The Solution to Our Problem

Trust me, I am as pissed as anyone about the other night's smackdown handed out by the Sens. Everybody is screaming for a winger for Crosby. The new hot new candidate is Ray Whitney. Screw that. I want Brind'Amour.

There is clearly not enough nasal talent on this team. We used to have one of the most unfortunate noses in the National Hockey League.

Then we traded him for somebody else…

Now all we have is TK, a monster of a schnoz to be sure, but clearly not enough of a presence to carry the team. Here's what we do, Guerin goes to Atlanta for Colby (women, try and keep your panties dry), and Staal and his average nose goes to Carolina to play with his brother (The Staal's are brothers) and we get Brind'Amour in exchange.

The Steel City Line, please. The Century Line; bush league. Give me the Nose Line.

Scared Much

As a sports nut, I am frickin’ psyched about the new sports station in Pittsburgh, 93.7 The Fan. Pittsburgh is a media anomaly. It’s only like the 42nd largest media market ( I heard it somewhere one time, so suck it) but it supports two pro teams, a minor league baseball team (Take that Nutting!) and oodles of college sports.

Big radio station owners haven’t figured out yet that what works in other cities won’t always work here. There may not be as many people in Pittsburgh as in some other bigger markets, but we, to a greater extent than your average big market don’t give a shit about what the Orlando Magic doing or Stupid Chad Ochostinko is twitting, or tweeting, or twating. We want to talk about Pittsburgh Sports and good lord, there’s enough of them.

Apparently CBS, the owners of the new station, are the only ones to figure this out. Not only are they going to kick the crap out of the other stations in local programs, but they will do it in FM. Imagine that, reliable signal throughout the area!

Fox 970, which has the least local programming (and shittiest signal for that matter) is apparently worried, as well they should be. Now they are putting a local focus show back in the morning from 6-9 A. As of right now they’ve got only 1 regular local show per day with Joe Bendel from 3 to 7 P each day.

I don’t know if there’s a market for three stations here, but as a listener, it’s gonna be fun to find out!
